UV-Visible Spectroscopy: ASURYAN

UV-Visible spectroscopy is an analytical method that focuses on the electronic transitions of the compounds of interest. This technology offers very high sensitivity (up to 10 to 100 times that of NIR or Raman spectroscopy), which is one of the reasons why pharmacopoeias recommend it for qualitative and quantitative studies. Recognized as an indispensable laboratory tool for decades, the technology is gaining popularity for online measurements in a production environment.

A VERSATILE TOOL THAT ADAPTS TO YOUR NEEDS

Asuryan enables rapid spectral acquisitions and offers excellent stability thanks to the simultaneous measurement of the light source’s spectrum. Multiple spectrometers can be integrated into a single Asuryan unit to perform measurements at several key stages of the process simultaneously, providing an immediate overview of the entire process. The multichannel system can also be used to connect multi-angle immersion probes or multi-path-length flow cells for inspecting complex media. This flexibility is essential in process design and manufacturing, particularly for high-value-added products.

Compatible with pharmacopoeia standards (USP 857, Ph.Eur. 2.2.25), Asuryan can accommodate a wide range of sensors (immersion probes using transflection or transmission with different optical paths, flow cells with multiple optical path lengths, multi-angle probes for inspecting complex media, or ATR immersion probes for highly absorbent products) to provide flexibility when measuring various products of interest in various media.

TWO POSSIBLE CONFIGURATIONS

Two configurations are available, depending on your needs:

  • single-channel configuration: a single measurement channel offering a cost-effective solution for standard applications
  • three-channel configuration: three measurement channels offering a versatile tool for connecting multi-angle sampling interfaces or monitoring multiple processes simultaneously.

Both systems are equipped with an additional internal spectrometer that monitors the stability of the light source and automatically corrects any fluctuations.

TECHNOLOGY INCORPORATING MEASUREMENT AND ANALYSIS SOFTWARE

The integrated Asuryan Ready software allows you to customize measurement acquisitions, particularly in terms of integration time and the number of scans. Compliant with 21 CFR Part 11, the user-friendly graphical interface lets you view and export data in various formats. It can be used in standalone mode or controlled via the OPC-UA communication protocol. The software also allows users to develop and apply univariate prediction models and/or integrate chemometric models such as PCA, PLS, ANN, or SVM from external software packages such as PLS_Toolbox (Eigenvector Research) or SIMCA-Online (Sartorius).
